As far as it being a crime, you’re under 18 and in possession of tobacco products, which is generally illegal. Furthermore, it probably violates your school’s student code of ethics, which can cause problems.

The K9 probably could sniff the tobacco out if it was trained to, but training a K9 to root out tobacco would probably reduce its efficiency in sniffing out drugs because it will alert the handler to every time it detects tobacco, a legal product in most cases and far more common than drugs.

Usually a more serious substance, though I don’t recommend you take tobacco to school with you.
